Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) So far, Sharon Chen was known to her fans a a composer of new age music with a marked romantic orientation. Her new work "Winter Sun" is quite different, especially in the first half. Lush clustered chords and haunting timpani inserts are setting the scene, which might be the opening credits of an epic mystery thriller. After this first-class exploration of avantgarde territory, the piece moves on to a more impressionist sound. Frankly, I enjoy this new trait in Sharon's music quite a bit!

about

A year in the making, the climate seems right for it now.. Actually changed orchestration a bit recently...more lush strings and bigger percussion..
Piano, prepared piano, orchestra, harp, music box, strings, percussion, flutes, brass..

From the East the sun did shine
At night it lowered its head..
The days, filled with scattered light
The sated sky, eternally red..

And though the Hope was small
It grew by force each day..
That Tumult would dissolve
And Peace at last would stay..
